dominic episcopo
You can see Dominic Episcopo’s passion in almost every picture he takes, and the old adage that a picture speaks a thousand words is not lost in the work of one of Philadelphia’s most exceptional and reputable photographers. His versatile and always growing portfolio encompasses vast extremes of everyday life, jumping between the worlds of high fashion and low-fi indie musicians with great aplomb. He has captured candid celebrity snapshots that feel intimate and personal but has also created images that are the visual stimulus for corporate advertising campaigns with the same effortless ease, professional approach and distinct artistic vision.”I approach things in a very straightforward way”, says Dominic, “I’m not a purist by any means, but I do approach things as straightforward and professional as I possibly can, and in the end, the art comes through in the picture even if it is for something very cut and dry.”
Hailing from North Jersey, listening to U2, The Ramones, The Rolling Stones and The Clash, Dominic’s interest in the art of photography was sparked by his interest in music, most notably by the edgy imagery and raw visual reaction he had to shots in his favorite music magazines. Ironically, some of his early and most acclaimed work has been for pictures of musicians in some of the same magazines like Rolling Stone that had sparked his interest in photography in the first place.
Some photographers would have stayed true to only one interest and genre that they found success in, but what makes Dominic an even more unique photographer is the variety of his work, and his ability to stay true to a distinct style while shooting things that couldn’t be more different.
“Shooting the Beastie Boys and shooting a corporate executive is certainly two entirely different things, but at the end of the day, I’ve got to come up with an interesting shot”, says Dominic; “I’ve got to light it, find a great location, and compose the shot within the setting itself, so it’s all the same element to me.”
For any photographer there are two sides to his business: an artistic side and a business side, and Dominic has built a viable reputation in several major markets on being as professional as he is creative, and as straightforward in business as he is visionary in his art.
His versatility and his vision all help make Dominic Episcopo create profound shots that do all the talking that’s needed.
brigette valenzano fuscia
Brigette began her college years at Eugene Lang College, with the hopes of one day becoming a writer. After just two short semesters, she realized the life of an author was a bit too quiet for her! Quickly switching majors (and schools), Brigette fell in love with the world of fashion. Upon graduating from the Fashion Institute of Technology, she began her career as a spec technician in New York City. From there, she moved back to her hometown of Philadelphia to work for companies such as Urban Outfitters, French Connection and Sailor Jerry.
During those years in fashion, she was occasionally involved in catalog and look book shoots… Which led to her interest in photography. Now as Studio Rep, Brigette scouts new projects and manages client relations.
When Brigette isn’t in the Studio, she’s either enjoying time with her family or writing for various blogs – apparently her love of writing stuck around.
